FAMOUS VOICES, QUIET MOMENTS. We often know legendary singers only through their grandest moments; standing on vast stages, illuminated by lights, their voices carrying across concert halls to thousands. Icons like Fairuz and Umm Khulthuom, have become almost mythical through these performances: flawless, poised, and larger than life. But behind every legend is a human life filled with quiet, ordinary moments. This series imagines those unseen spaces. It is a gentle artistic exploration of what these cultural icons might be like away from the spotlight; at home, in stillness, without the stage, the audience, or the ritual of performance. These scenes invite us to see them differently: relaxed, reflective, and immersed in the small rhythms of everyday life. These imagined scenes are not meant to document history, but to honor the emotional closeness many people feel with these voices.
Through these drawings, I explore a different perspective:
not the icon on the stage, but the person behind the voice.
A quiet glimpse into moments we never saw…but perhaps always felt.
